Coroners Office Assists in Clandestine Grave

On August 3rd, 2024 the Crawford County Coroner was asked to assist in the recovery of a homicide victim. The victim had been missing since mid-June 2024. Information was obtained by the Washington County Sheriff's Office as to the location of the victim.  On August 2nd, investigators with Washington County located what they believed to be a clandestine grave. The recovery efforts began early on August 3rd, and by the end of the day, the body had been excavated and released to the Washington County Coroner, who was also present and assisted with the recovery. 

We have no further information about the investigation or the person's positive identification. The Washington County Coroner and Sheriff's Office will provide that information in the coming days.
